About Harcourts

Harcourts was started in 1888 in New Zealand by John Bateman Harcourt who was head of one of Wellington’s first families. By the early 1900’s it had five trading divisions.

From these humble beginnings, Harcourts International Ltd now has over 780 offices and over 4,300 sales consultants. Harcourts International Ltd is now the largest real estate group in New Zealand and the fastest growing real estate group in Australasia.

Australian presence:

In 1997, Harcourts opened six offices in Queensland and set-up the State Office in Brisbane.

In 2002, Harcourts expanded it’s Australian operation into New South Wales, taking ownership of 19 offices in Sydney.

There are now:

  • 72 offices in Queensland
  • 31 offices in New South Wales
  • 47 offices in Victoria
  • 23 offices in Tasmania
  • 25 offices in South Australia
  • 32 offices in Western Australia
  • 133 offices in Regional Australia

Harcourts have always had a strong commitment for training and established The Harcourts Academy in 2002. The Academy is a registered training organisation which allows students to attain national qualifications towards sales registration, property management and full agency licence. In-house training is also available on a broad range of topics to ensure all sales consultants are up-to-date with changes in legislation & practices and to reinforce real estate knowledge & skills.
